Developing and implementing an MVP strategy for the first scalable 3D printer.

This was a one year project I led in 2018 at 3D Systems, the company that invented 3D Printing. It was like driving a train and building the tracks at the same time. It was essential that I worked with designers, software engineers, mechanical engineers, process technicians, electrical engineers, PM's, and executive stakeholders to align goals and expectations.

Challenge:

Building bridges among diverse silos to build a design system that successfully addressed the innovation opportunities available.

Approach:

  • User Journeys
  • Service Blueprint
  • Stakeholder Interviews
  • Strategy Workshop
  • Experience Workshop
  • Design System

Solution:

Running multiple workshops with a variety of key internal Stakeholders that resulted in the development and implementation of a Design System that successfully optimized processes and workflows. These are some of the key diagrams and flows that facilitated the conversations throughout the development process.

Impact:

This effort resulted in a reduction of printing development cycles that made this modular scalable 3D printer 19x faster than previous 3D printing solutions.
